Preschool through Grade 5

Our children grow each year in the understanding of their Catholic faith through the patient nurturing of their parents, their primary educators, and through the dedication and faithfulness of our many catechists and volunteers who give willingly of their time! On-site childcare is provided for those helping in the program.
Consider joining the Faith Formation team in some capacity...newcomers are always welcome!

All faith formation programs begin the first Tuesday/Wednesday of October and end the second Wednesday in May with our annual May crowning/rosary and family potluck barbecue.

Registration is taking place now. A $25 class fee is due at the time of registration. Forms are available outside the CFF office. Register now to avoid a fee increase after the end of August.

Preschool (ages 4/5): Meets the last three Sundays of the month during the 10:30am Mass.

Regular Elementary (grades K-5th): Meets Wednesday evenings 6:00 to 7:15pm.

Spanish Program (grades 1-5): Meets Tuesday evenings 7:00 to 8:30pm. Contact the parish office for information - 573-3325.

1st Communion Preparation Year 1 (grades K-8): Meets Tuesday evenings 5:30 to 6:45pm
1st Communion Preparation Year 2 (grades 2-12): Meets Wednesday evenings 6:00 to 7:15pm
Spanish 1st Communion Preparation Year 1 (grades K-6): Meets Tuesday evenings 7:00 to 8:15pm

Note: All programs are canceled when the Vancouver School District cancels classes due to inclement weather.


St. John Kids Choir: "Make a joyful noise to the Lord."
The first Sunday of each month from October to June our children's choir sings at the 10:30am Mass. If you are between 4 and 12 years of age, and you love to sing, you are invited to join the St. John's Kids Choir. Practices are on Wednesdays from 5:15 to 6:00pm beginning the last week of September. Practices are held at the west end of the Narthex. Contact Joan Rustay at (360) 798-8106


Children's Liturgy of the Word:
2nd and 4th Sunday of the month during the 10:30am Mass. All children in Kindergarten through grade 2 are invited to participate, led by our committed children's liturgists. The group is dismissed after the opening prayer and returns for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Vacation Bible School (VBS): Held the last week of June. This 5 day program of exuberant fun and learning runs from 9:00am to Noon for preschool through grade 5. Jr. High and High School youth are encouraged to participate as team leaders. Video Link

There are many programs too numerous to mention that will touch your life and deepen your faith. Fire on the Earth and Food for the Journey (each a 15 minute program) are archived on the web for your convenience. Crossing the Goal is a great men's program on Friday evenings from 6-6:30pm. The Family Rosary and devotional hour begins at 7pm. Spanish programs are on each evening from 9-11pm.
