Archdiocesan guidelines for Confirmation preparation is 16 years of age by May 1st or 11th grade. Preparation is a one year process with the celebration of the Sacrament in May. The Sacrament of Confirmation is not a "graduation" from Faith Formation. Preparation builds upon previous formation and helps our youth gain additional experience and guides them in the direction of discipleship, enabling them to live out the Gospel. The Sacrament of Confirmation completes your child's Sacraments of Initiation.

In order to prepare for Confirmation:

• Parents must be registered parishioners
• Youth, parents and sponsors must attend the orientation meeting - date to be announced
• Youth must attend High School group and Confirmation classes on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30PM beginning October 6, 2010.

• Current copy of the Youth's Baptism Certificate with a notation that they have received First Communion.
• $100 Registration fee (includes retreats and classes)

Sponsors

Your child will need a sponsor to guide and journey with them during this time of preparation. Sponsors must meet the following requirements:

1. A practicing Catholic and not the parent or guardian of the youth
2. Fully initiated: baptized, confirmed and received their First Eucharist
3. Free to celebrate the sacraments and not bound by and canonical penalty.
4. At least 16 years of age and sufficiently mature for the role (recommend 21 or older).
5. Able to attend Sponsor Nights, rehearsal, Confirmation Mass, and spend time outside the church with their candidate.
