Response to Covid-19

ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST

OPERATIONS DURING COVID-19

Updated June 1, 2020

Out of love for our neighbors and to help slow the spread of COVID-19, St. John the Evangelist is fully complying with the spirit of Governor Inslee’s March 23rd “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order.  This has required changes in how we operate and minister:  no public celebration of the Eucharist, no Church visitation, no scheduled reconciliation, suspension of office hours.  We still continue to care for the spiritual needs of the faithful as outlined below.  The office staff is available via telephone messages and email; do not hesitate to contact us at 360.573.3325 or office@stjohnvancouver.org .

Priest Availability

If you have pastoral concerns or are in need of pastoral care, you can reach Fr. Tom by email (frtom@stjohnvancouver.org) or leave a telephone message at 360.573.3325, ext. 105.  Confession is available by appointment.

Moving to the public celebration of Mass

We encourage you to view Archbishop Etienne's message on resuming the public celebration of Mass by clicking here.  The parish staff is working around the clock to meet all of the criteria necessary for St. John the Evangelist to receive permission by our Archbishop to resume the public celebration of the Mass; read Fr. Tom's most recent observations on our progress in English or Spanish.  Please check this website frequently for the most current update, or sign up for our email blast by clicking here

Livestreaming Mass and Holy Week Services

Until we are able to gather again together at church for Eucharistic celebrations, St. John the Evangelist livestreams Mass via facebook each Saturday at 5pm in English and each Sunday at 11:30am in Spanish. Masses may be replayed via Vimeo, Facebook or Youtube at later times.

Baptisms / First Communion / Confirmation / Weddings / Funerals

The governor’s order requires us to postpone all gatherings at this time.  Once restrictions are loosened or lifted, new schedules will be calendared and announced.  The only exception is for baptism in the presence of grave danger of death.
