Parish Library

Did you know St. John the Evangelist has a parish library?

St. John the Evangelist has a parish library in Room J, by the north office door amd across from the parish office.  More than 1,500 items are available to adults, teens and children (with adult supervision).  Each item has a check-out card to record the borrower’s name and phone number.  When filled out, the card should be left in the container on the filing cabinet in the library.  The name and phone number will be blacked out on the card when the item has been returned.

Children’s materials are found on a short bookcase next to the door.

Items for teens and adults are organized on the shelves by subject.  To find what you want, look at the “map” of the library inside the binder on the filing cabinet.  The binder provides general information about the library as well as lists of items by title, author and subject.  The library is run on an honor system.  We trust that items borrowed will be returned when they are no longer needed so that others may borrow them.  No “due dates” are scheduled.

Donations of Catholic books, DVDs and CDs are accepted as space allows.  Items must be in good condition (no writing in books), of general interest to parishioners, and not outdated.

Due to space limitations, fiction is not accepted.  Items you would like to donate may be left at the parish office.  They must be labeled as donations to the library. All items are vetted before being available for borrowing.

The library is open Monday - Friday during parish office hours, 9:00am - 4:00pm. (Stop by the parish office when you visit to assure the space is not in use for a meeting.)

If you have questions about the library, please call Kay McMurry, volunteer librarian, at (360) 693-8963.
